Beach House Arvi

Residential Complex / Private Villas
A residential complex in Arvi, South Crete, composed as a series of private villas that follow the natural terrain and open toward the sea.

Year: 2026
Location: Arvi, South Crete
Area: 1683 m²
Status: Project

Set within the dry, coastal landscape of Arvi, this residential complex is conceived as a small settlement of private villas rather than a single building. With a total area of 1,683 sq.m., the project develops through repetition, variation and careful integration into the natural terrain.

The architectural composition is based on a dialogue between solid volumes and open outdoor living. Earth-toned forms, local stone, timber pergolas and planted paths create a language that feels rooted in the Cretan landscape. Each residence maintains its own degree of privacy, while remaining part of a larger spatial sequence of courtyards, gardens, terraces and pools.

The layout follows the slope and opens gradually toward the horizon. Long swimming pools, shaded outdoor areas and large glazed openings extend the living spaces outward, turning the view into a central element of the project. The houses are not designed as isolated objects, but as inhabited fragments of a broader landscape condition.

Materiality plays a decisive role in the identity of the complex. The stone walls anchor the buildings to the ground, the plastered volumes soften their presence under the strong southern light, and the timber elements introduce warmth, rhythm and shade. The planting strategy reinforces the Mediterranean character of the site, using low, dry-climate vegetation that blends architecture with the surrounding terrain.

The project proposes a quiet form of coastal living: private, open, natural and connected to the sea. It is a residential environment where architecture does not dominate the landscape, but frames it, protects it and allows everyday life to unfold through light, shade, texture and view.
