DOM Boutique Hotel is designed as a compact urban hideaway in the old city of Heraklion. Set on Almyrou Street, within walking distance from the city’s commercial and cultural core, the hotel is shaped less as a conventional accommodation building and more as a sequence of curated interior moments.

The project’s character begins at street level. The entrance, lobby and lounge are treated as a transparent threshold between the city and the hotel interior. Large openings bring the street inside, while the reception, seating areas and bar create a layered ground-floor experience: open, warm and quietly theatrical.

Materiality becomes the main narrative of the project. Wood, black marble surfaces, brass details, glass partitions, textured walls and carefully selected furniture create a sense of urban sophistication. The red velvet sofa, the dark stone surfaces and the illuminated shelving introduce moments of intensity, while the breakfast area and patio soften the atmosphere through plants, natural textures and filtered daylight.

The rooms are calm and restrained, designed around comfort rather than excess. Neutral tones, warm timber, soft fabrics and indirect lighting create a quiet background for the guest experience. Balconies frame the city, allowing each room to maintain a visual relationship with the urban life of Heraklion.

The bathrooms continue the boutique language through a more tactile approach. Stone-like surfaces, glass, black metal details and botanical wall textures create compact but atmospheric spaces, where functionality is combined with a distinct visual identity.

The project concerns the establishment of the boutique hotel “DOM” in an existing legally constructed building on Almyrou Street 14, within the old city walls of Heraklion. The hotel includes basement auxiliary areas, ground-floor common spaces, lobby, seating and restaurant areas, five typical accommodation floors and two suites on the sixth floor, with a total capacity of 37 rooms.
