IBIS Styles Heraklion Central

Hospitality
A contemporary urban residential building in the heart of Heraklion, designed around compact living, natural light and a refined hospitality experience.

Project Type: Hospitality / Mixed-Use / Urban Hotel
Location: Heraklion Historic Centre, Crete
Area: 7.386 m²
Status: Completed

Located within the historic walls of Heraklion, Ibis Styles Heraklion Central forms a contemporary mixed-use destination in one of the city’s most active urban areas. The project brings together hospitality, commercial activity, parking infrastructure and the restoration of a listed building, creating a layered intervention that responds to the complexity of the historic centre.

The building occupies a prominent urban block defined by Agiou Titou, Idomeneos, Koronaiou and Evropis streets. Its architectural presence is shaped through a clear contemporary façade, horizontal volumes, deep balconies and carefully integrated lighting. During the day, the building reads as a calm, structured volume within the dense city fabric, at night linear illumination highlights its geometry and transforms the hotel into an urban landmark.

The entrance sequence is designed as a transition from the intensity of the city to the controlled atmosphere of the interior. Large glazed openings, olive trees, warm lighting and natural material tones create a welcoming threshold, while the lobby introduces a refined palette of wood, dark surfaces, metal details and greenery. The spatial experience balances the operational clarity of an international hotel with a more intimate Mediterranean character.

Beyond its hospitality identity, the project functions as a compact urban infrastructure. The wider complex includes retail areas, offices, residential areas, restaurant use, common spaces and a car parking station, while the total building area reaches the full permitted floor area of 7,386 sq.m.

Ibis Styles Heraklion Central is therefore more than a hotel. It is an urban node where hospitality, commerce, mobility and heritage coexist, offering a contemporary architectural response to the density and historical continuity of Heraklion.
